Above: Me checking the experimental ponds at Kellogg Biological Station off of my bucket list, 2015.

I am a Professor in the Dept. of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. I’ve been at Calgary since 2004. Previously, I was a postdoc at the NERC Centre for Population Biology at Imperial College London, Silwood Park. Before that, I did a PhD at Rutgers University under Peter Morin, and a BA in Biology at Williams College.

I’m broadly interested in population, community, and evolutionary ecology–the bits of ecology that have population dynamics at their core (at least in my view!) I combine theory, experiments, and other approaches to address fundamental questions. Most of my experimental work uses model systems that make otherwise-intractable questions tractable. See my research page for more on what my lab’s currently working on.
